History
The
First Presbyterian Church of Youngstown, Ohio —
the oldest church in the Western Reserve —
was founded September 1, 1799, under the leadership of the
Reverend William Wick. The present sanctuary was dedicated September 20,
1960.
Wick
was the first of eleven pastors to serve the church to date. Former
pastor Dr. David C. Kaminsky, called to FPC in 1981, served until
November 2000. Interim pastor Dr. Tom Sebben served the church from
January 2001 to October 2002, and Dr. Nick Mager joined us as our
twelfth installed pastor in December 2002. In late 2006, the church adopted a
new vision, guiding principles, and core commitments, which we look
forward to implementing in 2007.
For
more than 200 years, First Presbyterian Church has offered a rich
tradition of worship, fellowship, and service. Come
worship with us in the heart of the city as Dr.
Mager and pastoral associate
Lynn Hollis Doyle lead us through the next exciting steps in FPC
history.

In 2002, Pat and Karl Soller completed a beautiful, well-researched
history of FPC's first 200 years.
